General Information

Abstracts from all levels of practice and areas of expertise are encouraged. Abstracts undergo peer-review by three members of the Scholarly Review Committee (SRC). Please carefully read the following instructions as incomplete abstracts will not be reviewed. More detailed instructions.

Presentation Formats

For each abstract you submit, please indicate your desired presentation format(s) in order of preference:

  • 2 hour pre-conference
  • 45 minute concurrent session
  • 20 minute mini concurrent session
  • Poster Presentation

Learn more about these presentation formats

You are welcome to submit for only one type of presentation format (i.e. poster or concurrent session) by selecting that format as your First Choice and then selecting N/A for the rest. Review the format descriptions and complete the online submission process for the selected type(s) of presentation as indicated on the abstract submission site.

Each submission must include:

  • Abstract (250 word limit) – The abstract submission is divided by section into individual fields. You can include as many words as you like per section, but the total of all sections must not exceed 250 words.
  • Presentation Summary (50 words) – for printing.
  • Educational Outline Summary – Answering the questions “What will you present?” and “How will you engage the participants/learners in the presentation?”
  • One learning outcome for each abstract submitted (including poster presentations) – We recommend that you use Bloom’s Taxonomy action verbs for your outcomes.
  • Three evidence-based references to be submitted with your program materials in June.

Each listed author must provide:

  • Biographical information including credentials and educational background
  • Recording and Abstract Publication release forms
  • Disclosure Statement

If you are selected to present, you are required to sign a presenter agreement which states that you will comply with the listed deadlines and presenter guidelines. Failure to meet the required deadlines and presenter guidelines may result in the cancellation of your presentation and/or loss of your presenter discount. All selected presentations will be reviewed by an APNA Nurse Planner for adherence to ANCC Commission on Accreditation NCPD provider guidelines.

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association is accredited  as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Abstract Submission

All abstracts must be submitted via the APNA online submission site. You will need to log in with your APNA username and password to begin your submission.
